Offered is a second issue of 2 FDCs issued to mark the 40th day of the death of former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino. A second release of this issue was done because the first release was sold overnignt. Aquino is considered as the "democracy icon" of the Philippines responsible for the removal of the dictatorship of President Marcos in 1986 through People Power Revolution. People power revolution is a peaceful, non-violent means through people demonstration of removing unwanted leaders. It has been used as a model and used by other countries to restore democracy in their countries. One of the stamps feature a portrait of Cory Aquino with a stretched arm and the hand showing the "L sign" which stands for "laban" (which means "fight" in Filipino). The cachet of one of the FDC shows the funeral cortege of Cory Aquino which was attended by several thousands of Filipinos. The stamps and FDCs have yellow as a background color--the color which has become the trademark of the struggles of Cory Aquino. The stamps are mint, and in excellent condition. The FDCs are official, unaddressed and post-office fresh.
